EU Energy Policy Trainee (f/m/d)

We are looking for an EU Energy Policy Trainee to take part to our Brussels team and contribute to establishing our presence in Brussels through the publishing of studies and policy briefs, organisation of events, drafting communication material, and expanding EPICO’s network.

Closing date for applications is 20 March 2023 midnight CET. Interviews of shortlisted candidates will be held upon reception on a rolling basis. Interviews will be carried out online, through Microsoft Teams.

Starting date in the first week of April 2023.

Role title: EU Energy Policy Trainee
Type of contract: Traineeship (CIP)
Reporting to: EPICO’s Policy Team in Brussels and HQ in Berlin
Location: EPICO Brussels, Rue du Commerce, 31

Your Tasks:

  • Media and institutional monitoring [~25%].
  • Organizing meetings and events on topical EU regulatory updates, from the drafting of the blurb to the execution of post-event follow-ups [~25%].
  • Drafting and proofreading media and communication material, e.g., internal briefs, publications, blogposts, press releases, monthly newsletter, social media posts, emails, event invitations [~25%].
  • Research, stakeholder mappings, and updating internal databases [~25%].

Your Qualifications:

  • You have a master’s degree in a subject related to EU policy (or equivalent).
  • You have a good understanding of political and economic contexts in the field of EU energy and/or climate policy.
  • Attention to detail and respecting deadlines.
  • Proactive and creative mindset.
  • Proficient in the common MS Office programs.
  • You have an open-minded and communicative personality, who is empathetic and can identify with EPICO's mission and values.
  • Proficient English language level.

Desired experience/skills:

  • Professional experience in EU energy policy.
  • Keen interest/experience in one of the following policy areas: Electricity and Gas Markets; Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS); Hydrogen.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Social media-savvy.
  • Good command of either/both German and French.
