Senior Policy Specialist Industry and Energy

We are looking for a Senior Policy Specialist Industry and Energy to proactively contribute to our Berlin team’s work on industrial and energy policy, through the drafting and publishing of studies and policy briefs, managing related projects, organisation of events, and expanding EPICO’s network.

The successful candidate will start as soon as possible. Interviews of shortlisted candidates will be held in-person or online, and on a rolling basis.

Type of contract: open-ended (full time)
Reporting to: EPICO’s HQ in Berlin
Location: EPICO Berlin, Friedrichstraße 79, 10117 Berlin

The main tasks will include:

  • Observing, analysing, and evaluating industrial policy developments and issues on an ongoing basis.
  • Formulating, deepening, expanding, and representing EPICO’s positions in the field of industrial policy in Germany (with a focus on energy, e.g., in the area of decarbonisation of industry, energy market, innovation policy in Germany) as well as its intersection with European industrial policy.
  • Supporting related communication, with the relevant colleagues.
  • Designing, supervising, and coordinating studies with cooperation partners.
  • Supporting and independently conducting expert consultations and plan suitable event formats.
  • Participating in events and meetings representing EPICO.
  • Expanding and strengthening EPICO’s network in politics, business, science, and civil society.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree (ideally in Economics).
  • Good understanding of political and economic contexts and a sound knowledge of industrial policy and the energy industry and the corresponding framework conditions.
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in a think tank, in politics, an association, company or NGO.
  • Ability to communicate complex industrial and energy policy issues orally and in writing in a clear and objective manner.
  • Experience in independently designing, organising, and implementing projects, publications, and events.
  • Excellent command of German and English, both in written and spoken form.
  • An existing network in the field of industry, energy, and environment.
  • Previous experience in writing and managing scientific studies and publications.
  • Team spirit and openness to cooperating and collaborating with a diverse team.
  • Proactive and creative mindset.
  • Open-minded, empathetic, and communicative personality, and identification with EPICO’s mission and values.
