EPICO KlimaInnovation is an independent, non-profit think tank based in Brussels and Berlin. We are firmly committed to climate neutrality and to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement, aiming to limit global warming to 1.5°C. This commitment offers an opportunity for sustainable growth that enhances prosperity, quality of life, social cohesion, and the resilience of our society.
To realise this, the transition to a zero-emissions, competitive economy across all sectors must be accelerated through innovation and shaped in a fair and inclusive manner.
Our Focus Areas
Our Objective
Our goal is to position Germany and Europe as leading players in climate innovation while also strengthening their roles as reliable partners in international cooperation. To this end, we pursue a technology-neutral, comprehensive approach that combines market-based instruments such as emissions trading, targeted funding programmes, and a carbon-oriented reform of taxes, levies, surcharges and fees.
A flexible energy market that ensures security of supply and affordability while enabling the rapid expansion of renewables is essential.
Competition and innovation are key to reducing CO₂ and other greenhouse gas emissions efficiently while reconciling economic growth, environmental and climate protection, and social fairness. In line with the principles of a social and ecological market economy, we need to provide a binding framework for the path to climate neutrality.
Sustainable growth, supported by clear regulatory conditions, encourages entrepreneurship, innovation, and individual responsibility. This creates new jobs, secures prosperity for future generations, and strengthens social cohesion.
How We Work

Our Advisory Board
EPICO KlimaInnovation is supported by an independent advisory board consisting of individuals from politics, business, science, and civil society. The board provides strategic guidance and supports the coordination of a joint climate and energy policy agenda. Membership on the board is strictly personal and not tied to any institution. Funding
As a non-profit association we are working completely independently. We finance our staff, activities and projects through diversified support from independent institutions or in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Climate Imperative, European Climate Foundation.
