Policy Accelerator 2022: Workshop Transformation Fund

Design Sprint Workshop Sustainable Finance

In the first two Design Sprint Workshops of the Policy Accelerator for Climate Innovation 2022 on May 18 and 19, 2022 in Berlin's Maschinenraum, we addressed the exciting topic of Sustainable Finance and the necessary restructuring of transformation finance instruments and the gaps that need to be filled to enable investments on the path to climate neutrality. With inputs from prominent “challengers” from politics and the finance sector, the team developed initial ideas for a transformation fund in Germany. The challengers included Dr. Philipp Steinberg, Head of the Economics Department, Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), Dr. Michael Losch, Special Representative for Green Industrial Policy, Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation & Technology (BMK) and Jürgen Kern, Head of Department Corporate Strategy & Sustainability, KfW-Bankengruppe, as well as high-ranking representatives of the governing parties Dieter Janecek MdB, Spokesman for Economics, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group and Dr. Lukas Köhler MdB, Deputy Chairman, FDP Parliamentary Group.

Many thanks to our content partner Ingmar Jürgens, CEO and Co-Founder, Climate & Co., and the Accelerator team for this topic, consisting of Franziska Ehm, Head of Strategy, Allianz Investment Management, Christoph Reißfelder, Global Lead Energy & Climate Policies, Covestro Deutschland AG, Stefan Klein, Head of Fixed Income, Hamburger Pensionsverwaltung eG and Dr. Nora Reinolsmann, Referentin Verkehrspolitik, Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) e.V., for their constructive collaboration.
