Open Letter on CCS Strategy: Developing Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) is essential to achieve net zero.

Developing Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) is essential to achieve net zero. However, the European Union is yet to develop a strategy, while 2050 is slowly approaching.

EPICO KlimaInnovation joined a coalition of 10 like-minded European environmental NGOs from around the European Union, calling on President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, and Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson to design a policy framework for carbon capture and storage (CCS) based on a robust set of guiding principles and safeguards to facilitate the deployment of this critical infrastructure for industrial decarbonisation at scale by 2030.

As of January 2023, EPICO KlimaInnovation will also join the European Commission’s Working Group on the Communication, to contribute to the framing of a policy that can help member states to reach net zero.
