Christian Deutschmeyer is a Climate Policy Specialist at EPICO based in Berlin, focusing on German and international climate policy, particularly in the areas of hydrogen and sustainable aviation.

Prior to joining EPICO, he worked for the FDP parliamentary group’s spokesperson on development policy and for the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as Innovation Commissioner for “Green Hydrogen”. Before that, he held positions with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), among others.

He studied an interdisciplinary combination of politics, economics, law and philosophy, with a focus on collective decision-making processes in climate policy. In his master’s thesis, he analysed how a Pacific-style dialogue culture was applied in international climate negotiations, and he participated as a youth observer for Klimadelegation e.V. in negotiations in Bonn and Madrid.
