Hydrogen: An opportunity for German-Canadian partnership

In collaboration with the Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI) in Canada and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Canada, EPICO is pleased to invite you to a webinar on the German-Canadian cooperation on hydrogen on September 12, 2022 from 15:00 hours to 16:00 hours (CET).German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently announced their intention to strengthen their energy cooperation and signed a long-term agreement for the production and transport of hydrogen.

Though still in its nascent stages, there are unique economic and security opportunities for both countries that could be unlocked through the Germany-Canada Hydrogen Alliance. But what are the challenges that must be overcome to seize these opportunities? What role can the partnership with Canada play in achieving Germany’s decarbonisation goals? How can Canada avoid the hurdles that have frustrated resource development, production, and export for decades? What must be done to move from potential opportunities toward realized benefits for both Canadian and German economies?

In this webinar, a panel of Canadian and German experts will discuss these important questions. This conversation is tied to a forthcoming paper to be jointly published by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and EPICO, which will explore the opportunities and challenges of building a hydrogen partnership. The presentation of the upcoming paper and the panel discussion will be followed by an interactive Q&A session.
