Julian is EPICO’s Policy Specialist for Industrial Decarbonisation in Brussels.
He is responsible for EU industry policy, focusing on energy-intensive industries such as steel, cement, and chemicals. His work covers various aspects of decarbonisation, including production processes, access to renewable energy (particularly low-carbon hydrogen), and the adoption of low-carbon technologies, alongside monitoring market developments.
Prior to joining EPICO in 2023, Julian gained experience through traineeships at the Foundation Robert Schuman and the French mobility startup Pony Bikes. He then worked as a Researcher at the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung's Competence Centre for Climate and Social Justice in Brussels, where he monitored EU climate and energy legislation, focusing on the regional aspect of industrial transformation, including labour markets and the just transition.
Julian holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Sciences Po Paris and Freie Universität Berlin, and a Master's in European Affairs from Sciences Po Paris, where he specialised in EU policymaking, economics, and urban and climate policies. He also carried out an exchange semester at The New School in New York, where he focused on urban policy and carbon pricing.
