Panel discussion: What electricity price does Germany need as an industrial location?

Rising energy costs are significantly affecting the competitiveness of German industry compared to other locations. In response, the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWK) has proposed a "bridge electricity price", and alternative proposals have also come from the SPD and FDP parliamentary groups in the Bundestag as well as from industry. The German government has now announced an electricity price package. However, many questions remain unanswered, particularly with regard to the impact and sustainability of the proposed measures. In view of the recent ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court, the counter-financing of components of the package is also unclear.

We will analyze the proposals and discuss further necessary measures together with:

  • Dr. Lukas Köhler, Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary group, FDP,
  • Dr. Philipp Beckmann, Chairman of the Executive Board, Industrial Gases Association (IGV) & Management, Linde GmbH,
  • Dr. Maximilian Rinck, Head of Trade and Procurement Department, BDEW, German Association of Energy and Water Industries,
  • Dr. Martin Theuringer, Managing Director, Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl,
  • and Dr. Bernd Weber, Founder and Managing Director, EPICO KlimaInnovation

Moderated by Hanna Decker, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
